With the DermAid Foundations humanitarian aid app, volunteer dermatologists can practice "mobile dermatology without borders". Physicians can now share their expertise worldwide!

DermAid patients or referring medical providers upload photos, answer a few questions, and submit. It’s that easy! Receive an assessment and plan from a volunteer, board certified, dermatologist within two business days. (Consult availability is limited and varies by state and number of active volunteers. If aid consults are not available in your region, visit AAD.org to find a board certified dermatologist nearest to you)

The Why

Throughout the world, there is a relative shortage of specialty trained physicians practicing dermatology. Many patients with skin cancer or skin disease go undiagnosed, go untreated or wait months to see a doctor.

The How

In 2012, a team of U.S. dermatologists and expert computer engineers created the DermAid Foundation to help improve access to dermatological expertise. When confronted with a health problem involving the skin, hair or nails, patients or health providers may choose to use our innovative electronic dermatologist consultation app -- the "virtual appointment". Having a virtual appointment allows patients much-needed access to U.S. board certified dermatologists for diagnosis and management of skin disease.

The Greater Good

With the DermAid app, which is the first-of-its kind humanitarian cyber consult, volunteer dermatologists are taking their expertise worldwide. Participating dermatologists can travel virtually throughout the globe helping to provide care to those in need.

Here at home, smartphone based skin cancer screenings are saving lives.

Dermatologists use the DermAid Foundations technology to offer free smartphone skin cancer screenings to patients in the state where they are licensed.

Global humanitarian cyber consults are touching the world

Participating dermatologists volunteer their services worldwide, traveling virtually around the globe helping to provide care for those in need. Using the technology of our system, paired with physicians who donate their time and expertise, registered aid organizations submit consultations to the DermAid Virtual Waiting Room for rapid diagnosis and treatment options. Go to www.dermaidfoundation.org to register your aid organization for smartphone based teledermatology aid.

Learn more about our mission.

The DermAid Foundation is dedicated to providing access to dermatologic care and empowerment through education about the dangers of skin cancer and tanning, particularly for women and children, the most at risk groups. By providing patient education and smartphone access to dermatologists, lives are saved through prevention and early detection of skin cancer and patients with skin disease are diagnosed and treated.
